New Patterns Coming Soon

I hope to be making some sewing patterns soon.  Very easy, extremely basic for the beginner sewer.  I'll also start writing about sewing for the novice.  If you want to make something for your child or to give as away as gifts.

To me there is nothing better than receiving a hand-made gift.  It means that person thinks enough of you to spend their precious time making something that is unique and just for you!  Like all those things your children made for you at primary school.  I am a hoarder of my children's creations.  I used to love it when they made something for mother's day, easter or christmas and were so proud to hand me their masterpiece with such pride & joy.  (thinking about it now makes me tear up and brings a lump to my throat - they are such precious memories and a timeline to what was happening at that moment).

BIRDHOUSE COTTAGES

BIRDHOUSE COTTAGES

I've been busy this last weekend creating, creating, creating.  My family would probably say yeah, creating a mess!  Once I'm in the zone I can't seem to stop.  I do sit on an idea for a while and then BHAM!  it takes on a life of it's own.  Everything else takes second precedence.

I know a lot of people don't really like the 'steampunk' look, but I love it.  To me they take on a life of their own .
They're quirky, odd and beautiful at the same time.

I don't know why I adore birdhouses, cages of all shapes and sizes.  I find them hard to resist.  I'll probably end up being one of those mad old ladies whose house is over run with them.  Instead of the cat lady I'll be known as the birdhouse lady!

Marie Antoinette Art Doll

I have been wanting to make a pattern for a Marie Antoinette style  doll for a while now, but didn't know how to go about it or where to start.  I had looked online for a pdf or epattern but couldn't find one.  As I'm from Australia, postage can be quite expensive, and being quite impatient, like to have it right now!

I drew up a pattern the other day, because I had  this vision to make a 'swan princess' which would have the head of a swan and a human body.   My girls were not impressed, so say the least.  The body was too 'Rubenesque' for the head etc.

So I pulled off the swan head and made a 'normal' head., and thought what am I going to make with this?

It always amazes me how a doll takes on a life of it's own.

Finally finished..............

She is approximately 62cm in length, cotton body, underdress and bloomers are made from cotton lawn, overcoat/jacket is cotton/linen blend, face is drawn with fabric pens.

Please let me know what you think?  Does she need more detail or a change of face?

If anyone is interested I'm thinking of putting her pattern together for purchase, it will probably be
about $10 and will be in pdf format.
