A new day, a new doll.

I love those kokeshi and bunka style dolls, and have been wanting to make one for a while.
This is Kim Ono.  She still isn't finished.

She's finally finished. She was going to be in the kokeshi style but turned out to be more in the bunka style but she doesn't have a bonnet.  She measures about 17 inches by 6 inches.  She has felted hair and mary jane shoes.  Her dress is made from 100% cotton.  I wanted her to wear a kimono didn't work out. Maybe the next one will.

Bunka dolls were a popular Japanese doll between 1920~1960.  They generally have a large head with rectangles for the body legs and arms.  Bunka means culture.  They also wear a bonnet.
